Dearest Mom & all-

I am writing few lines to let you all know I am well, and I hope all is the same.  I hope it isn’t so hot there now and has rained some; the weather here is fine now. It is pretty cool in the day time and very cool at night. Two blankets feel very good, and the only thing now is the darn flies; I have never seen so many in my life. That is the hardest battle we have now is with the flies. I guess you all heard the good news by the time I did, about Italy surrendering, which will shorten the war a lot. I just wish the Jerries would do the same, so then every thing would be okay except for the Japs. That would only take a short time to wipe them out, that Christmas dinner is getting closer all the time and might get to eat it at home yet. I got a letter from Phil the other day. He is making it okay but is just as home sick as any of the rest of us. Hoping to hear from you all soon.

            Love to all Marlin
