Dearest Mom & all –

A few lines to let you all know I am well and ok, and hope all are the same.  Sure be glad when we move from this place, don’t have any idea when or where but the sooner the better suits me.

I wouldn’t take anything for my trip to Africa and wouldn’t or won’t ever take another one, once I get back across.  We have seen some very interesting things and places over here.  It sure is a shame what war will do for a country. The city of Begert is torn to pieces, not a livible house left standing. Just think what it could do to towns and citys over there.

We have visited some of the larger cities. Tunis, Oran, Oujola, Casablanca, and the third Oldest City in the world Kairouan, it’s completely surrounded by a concrete wall and is supposed to be one of the holy cities.  It is noted for its very famous rugs.  Would get one and send it home but hate to spend that much money then take the chance of it not getting there.  They cost around $50 or $75.

Am sending a $50 money order if you all need any of it. Use all you want and if you don’t, take what I am sending and what I have there and buy Bonds. Buy them in your name, either yours or Pops. That is for a reason of my own, will explain why when I get home.

I got a letter from Pillie the other day – he thought I was still in the States.  Have written him two letters, also got one from Buck Ashbrook. I believe I wrote about that.

Sure hope it has rained there by now and the crops are doing better.  Is Pop still working on the Market?  I hope you are feeling better, Pop.  I went to the Dentist this morning and they won’t pull any teeth here unless it is very necessary.  So they are going to just treat my gums and when we get back to the states, I will have them pulled.

Well as this is about all from here at the present, will close hoping to hear from all soon.

Tell Aunt Dove and Hunkey I said hello and hope that they are both well and ok.

Yes, I also got a letter from Mose Station – he is just as crazy as ever.  Letters like that really peps any one up, just a lot of Bull, and lots of news too.

Answer this as soon as possible and let me know if yall get the money order ok.. I sent Earnest Ashbrook a $20 order in June, I haven’t heard whether he got it or not. I sent Allie Mae $30 if she ever said she got it, I have forgot.  Am going to try and get me a three day pass next week and really visit, try and see all there is to see.

If I don’t mail this now, I will keep thinking of something else and pretty soon will have to add another stamp, so will mail it now.
