North Africa

Dear Mom and All,

I received your card and letter today and sure was glad to hear every one is doing better.  I sure hope Pop makes it OK this summer and then maybe by next summer the war will be over and we can do something other than farm.  He isn’t able to work like that.  I sure would like to sit down to that good chicken and those tomatoes you mentioned in your letter.  Chicken would be something more than special over here.  Did you ever get those two packages I sent from North Carolina?  You said you had gotten my insurance papers, what about that allotment check?  Are you getting that?  I don’t want to be paying for something and you not get it.  I haven’t heard from the girls or Pillie in some time.  I guess Pillie went across the Pacific.  I will write him again as soon as I can [line blacked out] as it takes time to get letters to everyone.  Here’s hoping I and the rest of the boys can be back home before very long.

Lots of love to all,

   Marlin
