North Africa

Dearest Sis,

How is every thing in Texas?  By now I hope it isn’t as hot there as it is here.  It sure gets hot in the day and cold at night.  I have to have two or three blankets at night.  Everything is about the same, working from 10 to 15 hours a day.  Maybe after awhile we will get a relief driver.  I hope so anyway.

I haven’t heard from Mom and them but once.  I have written them twice, but it takes so long for mail to come and go.  I haven’t heard from Buck Ashbrook or Pillie in over two months.  If you have time, call Earnest Ashbrook (5-1594) and ask about Buck and tell Earnest I will write him in a few days.

Sis, I ask you to see if you could buy a cigarette lighter.  If you can find a good one send it and some extra flint.  I am sending a check for $2.92 that was a refund from a bus ticket that I didn’t get to use.  If it takes any more pay it and I will send it to you soon.

I may get a letter from home before you get this, but find out if Mom is getting the allotment check and if she has got my insurance papers yet.  If she hasn’t or has, either one, they will take it out of my pay.  I don’t want to pay for something we are not getting.

If you haven’t found a place yet and are still trying I will help all I can to pay for it.  However, that won’t be so much now, but after I get out we can finish paying for it.

Well Sis as this is about all from these parts for the present.  I will sign off for this time.  Hope to hear from you soon.

                                    Lots of Love,

                                    Bud
