Dearest Mom & Pop

Got your card the other day and was glad to hear from you, have been expecting some more word from down there but it takes longer for mail to get here than it did down in Fort Benning.

Sure do wish I was there to help with the peanuts, and if you will write me a letter saying that you need me real bad and cant get help to put them up and I might be able to get to come on a 15 or 20 day leave, will show the letter to the Chaplin and he can help me a lot in getting off. Don’t know whether it would do any good or not but it won’t hurt to try.

Will send this air mail and put an air mail envelope in so you can answer real soon.

Well things are different here from what they were down in Georgia. We are taking 2 hours of exercise every evening from 7-9. Took a 2 mile hike last night and tonight it will be 8 miles and are working every day, except Sunday, from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and from the way things looks now we won’t be here very much longer. Maybe one month, or you can’t tell we might be here 6 month, but don’t really think we will have too much longer. That is my idea of it.

Well it is about time to fall out for that hike so will close for this time hoping to hear from you real soon.

Love

P.S.

Well we just got back off that hike and was it a good one. I like not to have made it the second time we have done anything like that since we have been down here, sure does go hard, but it really is a body builder
