Dearest Hal,

I spent a very quiet birthday yesterday. I am sorry we couldn’t have been together but knowing you were thinking of me any way.

Mother is some better though the boil on her neck is still draining which makes her very uncomfortable. She has had to have it lanced twice.

Moffet Black came down this morning and brought Sam the cutest little grey rabbit you ever saw. Sam is about to have fits, He “thinks” he will call the rabbit Mopsy because that sounds like Moffet. If the rabbit is a very bad rabbit he will change it’s name to Peter. Daddy is building a rabbit box and “cursing” fluently as you can imagine.

Last night we went to see Nelson Eddy and Jeanette M Denell. My … in “I married an angel.” It was a very punk show. The worse I’ve ever seen them do. That is pretty bad you know.

We have had another nice rain and now all my flowers need weeding again. I wish so much you could see them. I can’t begin to tell you how much I wish I could see you. It seems the longing for you never grows less; just wanting to have you home again gets stronger every day.

All my love
