Dear Mom:

Received your volume today. There was 3 cents postage due on it. It was really a bundle.

I am happy you feel the same as I do about the situation. It makes it easier to go when the folks you love feel the same as you do about things. I hope that I never disappoint you or fall short of your expectations. I’ll try my best not to.

Mother, Norman and Eugene are both going to get a furlough on November 1. Sorta nice birthday present to me if I am still here. It looks like I will according to the dentist. He said that he would have to x-ray my wisdom teeth before he would even try to pull them. I think that is a good idea. He can see exactly how they are growing and not hurt me near as much as he would not knowing anything about it. I have already had two teeth filled. I have a little over time coming in that will help out but I may have to wait on that five I owe to you. I’ll do what I can to make ends meet.

Mother, I think I will be home Saturday morning. A man down here has been transferred to Atlanta and he wants me to drive his wife up there. That means a free ride for me. I am not positive yet, but I won’t be home until Saturday morning anyway.

Conditions are improving I think. Betsy has invited me out to her house for supper. Sounds promising doesn’t it? Don’t worry about me, I am not entertaining any thoughts so rest easier. I’ve got a job today and tomorrow and tomorrow so I have no time for but one thing, getting into the Air Corps.

That is about all for now so until Saturday.

Love to all,

Roy
