Dear Mom,

You said you didn’t know who Charlie is. You met him. He came by the house one Sunday, over on Harrelson Ave. I went to ride with him. You’ll remember him.

Be prepared for me to stay a whole week with you all. I am going down to Aunt Rene’s for one week also. She has a revival going on now and Uncle Charlie’s sister and the whole clan is staying with her so I will not be going down as planned. I can’t stand that crowd.

Mother, start cooking up some grub because your boy Roy is going to put on some weight. I have gained 6 pounds since I was home last. Glad you have my birth certificate, that takes a load off my chest. I was beginning to think that you wasn’t going to get it for me. I am just itching with curiosity to see that sport hat you mentioned I hope it fits. Mother, I won’t be there Friday night. It will be about 2 or 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon if nothing happens.

We are about to get a new girl up at the office. She’ll take my place. She came up there today to see the boss.

I wonder what has happened to Betty Bailey. I haven’t heard from her in a month or so.

I saw a good picture last night, “This above All”. It is worth seeing. Mom, I want to make a date with you to take you to the show next week. You and Ben and I will have to take in the town one day. We’ll have a time while I’m there. Mother, I think that is about all for now.

See you Saturday

Love

Roy
