Sunday

                                                                                                            Dec 17, 1944

Dear Sisters:

We are fine and hope you are the same.  We just came back from church we went to the First Church of Christ again.  I still can’t figure it out but they give communion every Sunday it seems funny but I guess that is part of their belief.  We are very busy at the field it surely comes in bunches our work and then they push the devil out of us to get it out.  Here is an example we had the engines to change on and at 11 we pulled them off on Monday the feather merchants fooled around all week to build up the new engines then on Saturday we got them to hang and they started to push us to get them out in 6 hours because the plane was needed at 1500 to fly if they would have pushed the darn feather merchants during the week a little it would have been better all the way around.

We are cooking an end of ham for bean soup I bought it at the commissary and it didn’t cost any points not bad.  For dinner today we had venison given to us by the old guy here at the house also mashed potatoes, candied sweets, creamed cabbage and gravy.

We got your Christmas cards they are very nice indeed thanks for them.

I got a card also to say that Kathryn had renewed my Reader’s Digest.

Boy it is dark and damp out I guess it is getting ready to snow for a change.

I have a couple of letters here and I’ll answer them now.  You must have had some bad weather yourself.  You surely get plenty of things from your kids Irma I hope you can eat it and they are not too dirty.

I’ll try to remember to put your name on more letters Irma but I try and send them in order.

I have a letter from you Mildred & I’ll answer it now also.  I received the check O.K. Mildred I thought I told you in another letter.

What Myers is moving into Claude M.s house?

I guess Junior G.s ship must of been damaged or else it wouldn’t have come into that port on the west coast it is a nice break for him getting home at this time he had been on the USS Franklin it was a new carrier.

If you ask me M. F. surely gets himself hurt enough it is to bad.

So Clyde & Alice are reunited well I don’t think much of either of them.

I guess they are really in need of infantry men I hear they are going to do a lot of transferring before it is all over.

So Nardini’s finally sold their house boy Cal and hellhammer surely buy plenty.

Well I guess I’ll sign off for now hope you are all fine.

            MERRY CHRISTMAS

                        To You All

                                                So long

                                                            Love

                                                                        John
