Dear Sisters

I am fine and hope you are the same.  I got back here O.K. on Sunday night. That is a good fast train; it only took it 2 ¼ hours to get to Newark.  I had plenty of time to get back to camp.

Last Evening we had our M.T. period. They had a couple of fellows talk to us about their overseas experiences. It was quite interesting; the one guy was shot down over France. He said he would never tell how he got out but someday when it would be safe the gov’t let it be known but he said it took quite awhile- 4 ½ months- but anyway he said he was terribly glad to get back home.

We got our marks to day for the first station. It seems like my group in the class has the tough inspector. I got a 3.5 and one guy got a 3.6 the rest were lower with 2 men flunking or getting below 2.5, which is passing.  I don’t know what kind of a marking system they have but I don’t feel I did bad when I got what I did, and most of the guys have been working on the line for 2 years and didn’t do any better. The other 2 groups had some 4.0 marks but I really think it lays in the instructor more than anything else.

Today we only had school and were finished at 4 P.M. Because it was a holiday it is early now, only 6:45 and I may take a walk up town as we have late passes until 1 A.M. in fact.

I had fire guard last night. It surely is a heck of a businesses getting up at 2 A.M and staying awake until 4 A.M but we must all pull it sometimes and I kind of think that is all I will get it.

Well I hope I get to see you all on Sunday.

So Long

Love

John
