Dear sisters,

I got my final mark from the preflight branch today. It was 98. I was surprised and really didn’t expect one as high. They gave us our school average; up to now I had a 90.3. It is the highest in the class. A new fellow who only joined our class last week had a plot 90. The rest of the class had below 88.

I’ve been made crew chief again in this branch. It is quite a job heading up all the forms that are required for there are 3 of them to be left. It is just the same as working out on the line at some air field. The engineering officer came around this afternoon and asked for my forms. I gave them to him and he looked them over and put his O.K. on them and said they were very neat and I should keep them that way.

We did not have any P.T. today for we are behind in our aircraft identification class but it really suited me fine.

It is terrible windy here again and quite dreary for it looks like rain once again.

I have told you all the news so I’ll answer Uma’s letter that I got today.

You surely are a brute giving a test to get kids to see what they don’t know. Oh well, I have taken so many that I think it does them good. Getting so many wrong surely seems to give you an idea how dumb the kids really are. It seems to me that it is warmer in Penna than in the panhandle of Texas. The kids are surely putting you on the spot for a picnic.

They surely are calling a lot of fellows for the service they must soon have them all called back there.

See Mildred you are getting your onions in plenty early; they should be good eating before long.
