Monday 9:00 P.M.

Dearest Mary Ellen

Well I’m out of the hospital at last and I can’t explain how good it feels. I got out at 9:00 this morning and went right to school headquarters to find out my new class and see what I could do to get Friday off. I was pretty much afraid that I would have to take a different day off but I managed to get a pretty good deal. I couldn’t get back in my old class and then make up the two phases I missed after I graduated so I went back down the line of classes until I found one with Friday off. Its number is 22 A-11 instead of 20 A-11 and I will have to take five days of the ignition phase over again, but I’m ready and willing to take it over again to get Friday off. I did a few little underhanded things to get back in the same barracks but I don’t think I’ll get caught. Even if I do they will just move me to another barrack.

When I left the hospital I was given a ship excusing me from all drilling and calisthenics until the 8th. I saw Frank at school and at lunch and we decided to send a telegram tomorrow night telling you to leave next week and get here Thursday as planned before. We will just have to take a chance on finding an apt. this Friday. I sent you a telegram tonight to let you know I was out of the hospital and everything was alright. I knew you would want to know when I got out. I got out a day early for some reason and that made me happy.

I’m glad I got out today because I was able to send my laundry in. My O.D. Coat had to be stuffed in my barracks bag when it was turned in and it’s sure wrinkled, I’ll have to have it cleaned and pressed this Friday. When a man goes to the hospital all his bedding and clothes have to be turned in so I had all my things to get from the supply room and unpack.

I start school in the morning so I’ll quit and go to bed. I got the letter today. Your Thurs. letter, on from Beulah which was very nice. I think my letter helped mother a little, and a birthday card and letter with a $20 check in it. That was sure nice of them wasn’t it dear. I’ll send them a telegram tomorrow. Well darling I’ll quit and go to bed tonight. I’ll write tomorrow and explain more. It will probably be my last letter. I’ll be able to tell you all about it when you get here. You and Helen have your plans all made, ready to leave.

                        All my love dearest- Glen

P.S. I didn’t write Sat. or Sunday dear because I couldn’t get them out of the hospital.
