Dear Mom,

Your letter came yesterday saying you got the money. I’m glad it finally arrived, I was starting to wonder if you’d get it. Also now that you are using the new address my mail gets here faster. Sorry to hear Betty’s father died. Anyway as long as you are well, that’s the main thing. So Weiss has finally gone, well if he goes to New Guinea I won’t see him till maybe later. I’m glad to hear you are doing o.k. with roomers, between 2 roomers and the garage plus 50 from the government you ought to at least hold your own if not put anything away. I’ll send you more money if I see I’m going someplace where I can’t blow it I’ve got 25 in my socket now waiting for Weiss or Jack to show up. I think I might find Jack if I look hard enough. So Donnie’s going to write. Glad to hear that, because I wanted to tell her something, you know about how I feel about Jan, I mean I’m perfectly contented with being single at the present and all indications point to things remaining such.

I’m writing in a hurry, because I don’t have much time these days, I’ve been swimming every chance I get and going to keep it up. So far since I’ve been here, I’ve had 2 shots of gin and 1 rum plus 1 bottle of beer. The stuff is terrible-island produced so my money lasts long around here.  Thanks for sending those Department clippings to me, they make interesting reading. I’d give most anything to see how the place looks now with everything in bloom. You’re right about me wanting Ange to know I’m across so Madame X can find out where I’m at. I sent her a pretty pocketbook which she might to get in 3-4 weeks as a gift to get even for the fountain pen. You got 3 bucks too, so guess all the girls should be satisfied. Why don’t you throw that picture of me away and put Henry’s and his wife’s picture in its place. It will look better, and I know that one of mine looks bad. Just a suggestion though I wish you would hide the damn thing. Make a special effort to be nice to Mrs. Weiss (Jr.) and tell her I said she should talk Henry into staying in Cleveland after this is over. Well this has been hurried as you can see. I’ll write at length and more coherently when the mess hall permits. Take care of yourself and say hello to Molly-Feed the cat.

                                                                                    Love,

                                                                                    Bun
