Dear Family-
Sorry for
the long delay. I’m still in the best of
health and getting along fine. But it
has been a rough war. Was talking to two
kids from my old company and practically no one in the old outfit is left
today. And the wife of a man recently
killed in action wrote that she didn’t see how her husband was killed since
there is no fighting going on in

The delay in writing I regret, but after two months of the toughest kind of fighting, we let somebody else do the job and came out for a little rest. And what a rest! We were billeted in a former resort town. From the colonel on down, not a member of the staff had a sober moment the week we were there. Had two officers’ dances (our first overseas) at our own club and numerous parties. Thanksgiving was a great holiday with turkey and all the trimmings. I am still well and happy. I will soon be one year overseas.
