Dear Elva,

I should have answered your letter of April 10th which I received last week sooner but I could never seem to find the time.

Today at last I received a letter from home telling me that they had received the first letter that I sent from here. It really made me very happy as I have been looking forward to just this for the past week or more. I suppose by this time that you have also received my first letter at least I hope so.

I was glad to hear that you were having such swell weather there and that you are getting your garden in shape. This isn’t a very long or interesting letter but as soon as I have the spare time I will write you an air-mail and tell you as much as I can about England. Until then.

                                    Love,

                                         Bill.
