            Dear Hon:

Good afternoon Sweetheart.  I have some spare time now until suppertime so I figured that the best thing in the world I would like to do is to write to you darling.  I received two of your letters before I left for work.  Wednesday afternoon and Thursday night.  In your Wednesday letter darling a little trouble appeared to be brewing which in the end each of you boys were punished for.  It does not seem right that the innocent have to pay for the guilty but that is the way, a good man or woman suffers for someone bad.  I’m glad that you didn’t get your name on that petition.  You can’t fool around with the army, the boys should know by now.

Could it be dear that for revenge someone had started that fire in the officer’s latrine?  You can see as plain as day that there is much discontent going on around your company.

Darling, could it be that you are getting shots for overseas?  Don’t they tell the boys before they go? or are you trying to keep it away from me?  Sweetheart those 2 letters have made me more + more suspicious of your going across.

I was all upset this morning; in fact I shed a few tears.  I hate to face the facts that you will possibly go.  All indications are so and no one can tell me different.  Sweetheart, that is the last thing on earth that I would care to face but what can we do?  What is there to do?  Nothing, but face it like others do.  If only something would turn up that would save you for a little while longer I would feel relieved.  I hope with all my heart that my fears are not to develop in unhappiness. oh! If only the future was a little bit brighter.

Darling you ask me about Bus.  Just this morning Mary received a letter from him and he informed her that he is in the hospital and will be there for quite sometime.  He has been working very hard since he acquired his stripes and he must be in a very rundown condition. As for as he knows his company will not see overseas duty for a few months yet.  Their plans have been changed.  He was to start his furlough on Holy Friday as he was to be home day before Easter.  He won’t have it now.

Darling, honey, again I will sign off and wait patiently for more news of your destination.  God has our future planned so we must leave it in his hands.  We must believe in him so that we may find happiness. I Love You
