Saturday 8:45 A.M. March 25-1944

Good morning Sweetheart. I received todays letter yesterday believe it or not. Twice this week the same thing happened. Its fun to read 2 letters in one day. Gen. + Johns letter to you was very newsy. I sure appreciate her writing to you dear even though she doesn’t mention your wife. After all you are her cousin and she is writing to you. I must write her and thank her from myself for being so thoughtful in sending you cookies. They are a swell bunch of girls and I think the world of them. So is Stoyk. He has been sick quite steady now, but he went out last night as he wasn’t home when Mary + I got there. Isabelle was home alone. Wanda went to see Mrs. D. because she is in hospital with a fractured skull from falling. We just saw her two weeks back, it is too bad.

You were quite happy about your details lately. I hope that you continue to be so. Writing to me on a nail keg was quite a novelty wasn’t it dear? My letters come through no matter. Thank you darling as I am very happy and content when I hear regular from you. That is the only thing in the world that keeps us all going. Bus has also been more generous in his letter writing. The army is getting him down also as he is due

for a furlough and does not seem to get it. It will do him good to come home for a while just as it did you darling. You can carry on again until the next one.

Mary + I have been picking up things and straightening the house as we are going home tonight, over Sun + Mon. I’m looking forward to it very much. It will be fun to be home for 2 days. The weather is beautiful and hope it stays that way for us. I’m letting the fire out and it shouldn’t be too cold when we get back as it is much warmer out in the past 2 days. I hope to do a lot of resting which I need very badly.
