Dear Mom & Pop:

Well here I am sitting and waiting to do (yet). I’m standing by in the office tonight in case anything does turn up. There’s not much to tell you except that I think I’m going to get a leave before I report into D.C. That is if I go there. They’re asking for a 14 day leave plus travel time on the way to Washington. I hope it comes through. I haven’t been out to see long, but it gets awfully tiresome. It’s not so bad when your underway but just sitting at anchor off on island sort of gets you.

Well we won’t be out here much longer, because we have to get these scientists back stateside. Speaking of these scientists they really can blow the hot air. We have to type up all their reports, and are they terrific! We just finished a 68 page one today, and there’s more to come. What they find to write about gets me. It wouldn’t be so bad if you knew what they were talking about.

Well I think I’ll close these few lines now. Take care of yourselves and don’t worry. Hope to be home soon.

                                                            All my love,

                                                                        Alfred
