Dear Mom + Pap:

I just received your letter this morning so I thought I would come over to the library and answer it. I have liberty today but I’m not going out. The more you go to San Diego the sicker you get of the place. I went on liberty on Washington’s Birthday and four of us got our pictures taken. I’ll send them home soon.

Well I have 17 more weeks of school left. I don’t know where I’ll go though. So few of the classes that have graduated the add membered classes have gone to sea. Our class member is 15 by the way. If I do go to sea I hope I ship out from the east coast. The dentist finished me up yesterday and that sure is a relief. Tuesday I get another impression taken so I’d get my teeth pretty soon. The dentist I had didn’t fool around like Barseh did. He doesn’t take that drill from your mouth till he’s finished. You say it’s snowing and cold there. Well I’ll take the snow and the cold any day. It’s cold anyway in the morning and evening and hot during the day. Well I guess I’ll close now.

                                                                                                All my love,

                                                                                                            Alfred
