Dear Mom and Pop:

Well I got my choppers yesterday, and they look pretty good too. It feels kind of funny trying to eat with them though. I had to get up this morning for personal inspection, then I went back to bed afterward and slept about and hour later they made us all get up again I’m really tired.

Yesterday afternoon when I walked in the barracks I saw a fellow that was in my graduating class. His name is Al Rappaport. He was sort of a pain in the neck at school but it was good to see somebody that you know any way.

I’ll bet you can’t guess who else I saw down here. I saw Walter Achmidt. He was serving on the chow line when the night laundry came in to eat at 10 o’clock. I wasn’t sure whether it was him or not. I went up to him and said “Isn’t your name Walter Achmidt.” He said yes, but he didn’t know me until I said “Remember Al Simonds” he’s on draft now for California. Well I guess I’ll close now. See you this weekend. I don’t know whether to take the train or think. I think another fellow and I might think. Anyway I’m pretty sure I’ll be home. Take care of yourself.

                                                                                                All my love, Alfred
