Dear Mom and Dad:

Well so far so good. I just took another physical and passed. I probably will come with a partial plate. My teeth are sure in a mess. But I guess everything will turn out o.k.

I probably will send home other things besides my clothes as the Navy furnishes everything.

We get a cigarette ration card and we get about 2 or 3 packs a day or 12 cigars or a pack of tobacco.

As [of] yet I haven’t gotten a haircut yet but I expect to get one this afternoon.

I can’t write much now because I am pretty busy. This is the first time I’ve had the chance to write a letter. Tell some of the people I won’t write for a few days until I get a little settled.

Well I guess I’ll close now. Nope, now I have to go for a haircut. You ought to see me. It’s all shaved off except a little tuft on top.

Well I’ll close now. Take good care of your back mom. Let me know when pop goes to work at Belmont.

Love,

Alfred
