My darling wife:

I wasn’t going to write tonight, but I changed my mind. There really wasn’t a thing to write about, there is nothing that I do. It rained all day up until 4 p.m., and now it is clear and the sun is again. It was so cold this morning that an over coat would have felt good. It’s a lot warmer now again. They sure have funny weather here in France. I’d take rain everyday though if I could be home with you, my darling. I love you my sweet little wife. I still miss you more and more. There must be an end to this soon, if I have to stowaway on one of these freighters.

Honey, do you think the war news looks good to you? It sure looks good to us over here. It seems to me that the Japs will quit almost any day now. I sure hope they do. I want to come to you and the kids so bad. This life is so lonely. I’m dying to be home and get and get a little fun out of life. I need a wife very much. I need someone to look after me and love me and give me companionship. - -- you I need Maggie, and it better be soon.

Did you hear anything about your perfume yet? I’m anxious about what you have to say about it.

I do like that picture of you with your glasses honey, and your legs don’t look crooked as you think. I like them. I mean your legs. As a matter of fact I like everything about you.

Say Maggie, where do you get your information all the time about the points being lowered? In their last letter you said they were down to 70. I never heard anything about lowering the points at all yet. They were supposed to put out the actual score sometime this month. They better hurry for they only have a few days left. I don’t think they will go below 78 myself. I saw in the paper the other day that some high point men in the states are still in and they are nagging plenty. This army is so screwed up. I can’t see how they got as far as they did. As long as I’m in it never be able to understand it. It’s just like women. They are really something too, but let’s not get into that. I love you my darling, so help me. We were discussing women the other day and came to the conclusion that they should have a spanking once in a while. I know I could have given you a couple already. I guess you know I don’t like to be slapped.

I think we can have plenty of fun just going out by ourselves on Saturday nights, that way I can sneak in a kiss every once in awhile like I used to do. Sometimes I don’t like to stay in one place too long. Maybe stop in two or three different places and we can go when we want, and not depend of anyone else.

Maggie, I am starting to fill up my duffel bag now with those match folders. [Edited for content]  I guess this is all for tonight my darling.

I love you Maggie.
