My Dearest Marguerite:

We had another nice day today, not like Monday, we had more snow on Monday, yesterday and today were almost like spring and the snow is melting fast.

The 122nd went out on bivouac for tonight. I hope they have a lovely time sleeping on the snow.  I guess my time will come.

The supply sergeant came back tonight, one day early. I guess he must love the army. I have been pretty busy since he left, and everyone says I’ve done a good job. Maybe the Company commander will give me a good recommendation when I get a transfer. I also asked him for one of them, but he didn’t think I could get one right now. I would like to work my way up again, by the looks of things this is going to be a long war so I may as well get something out of it.

I got four valentines the other day. I had the cutest one from Phyllis and Neal.

How is the baby? Is he cranky yet? Try to watch what you eat maybe he will get along a little better. Our kid weighs about one ounce more than Gardner. Now I feel better again so keep up your good work honey.

I had the hardest time I ever had leaving you this time my dear. I didn’t want to leave you, but I had to. You are so lovely and pretty. Your big blue eyes do things to me, especially when I see them out in the sunlight. You make me so happy when I am with you. I wish I could be home with you sometime and have a few dances, its been an awfully long time. Hasn’t it?

I miss you again, and I love you so much.

Goodnight my dear

Love,

Preston
