Dearest Clara,

I am sending you six buttons, I had to bend the eyelets over to get them in the box, but your Dad can take the pliers and straighten them back, it won’t hurt them any, I told you I would get you some but I couldn’t find any around the camp, in the states, but you can bet I didn’t forget you. You probably will have to shore them, tooth powder will strike good. I just finished one letter to you, but I forgot to tell you about the buttons so I thought I had better write you one of these. Darling I am fine and hope you are feeling well and I’ll write every day I can, and I know you will.

With all my love and kisses to my darling wife Clara

Your Husband, Johnny
