My darling wife Clara,

I will drop you a few lines this evening while I am waiting around for the time to pass. Darling I was in Sydney, Australia. It is a very pretty city but I still like the good old plains, you can bet on that, but this is so much different than our cities at home. I wish I could explain some of the things there I saw from the ship, but I haven’t found out for sure what we are allowed to say yet. I was down on the dock for a little while, but didn’t stay very long. I got to talk with some of the Aussies, they seem to be nice people, and very polite. Honey we are sailing again, but I can’t say where just now. After I get to the place I think maybe they will let us write about where we are. I hope so anyway. Don’t you? I have to write another letter to you and one to Mother and Dad, but honey, I just don’t know what to write. So please write soon!
