Robert Parry was a United States Marine who fought in the jungles of the Pacific. At one point he mentions being stuck in the jungle with malaria while Japanese mortars were landing all around him. Parry also wrote a very moving poem about the life of a marine. The poem appears in his letter from October 10, 1943. Robert Parry survived the war and died in January, 1983 at the age of 62.
