Dear Matthew,

At 4 o’clock this afternoon I will be off guard. It may be possible to get into the town tonight. By general consensus of opinion it’s a poor excuse for a town. I believe from previous reconnaissance that it will be limited purely to sight seeing and trolley riding. I don’t believe that I will be able to send along any transfer because they would reveal the city in question. During my travels I have been able to get quite a few from the various big towns that I have but I believe that they are about the same varieties of relics that we have at home. During those tours of civilization left I try to build up a reserve. I may even get to drive a trolley.

As a rule maritime climate is poor & this place is no exception. However the rain is just mist and nothing heavy. During my time in the Army I have gotten to the point that I don’t mind the weather just as long as I eat fairly regular.

It has been mainly 2 weeks since I have driven a vehicle. Today I had a chance to drive a jeep. On level ground it might be a good vehicle but on this hilly terrain I figured that I might have to get out and push.

I slept through breakfast so I had to eat down at the Service club- the meal was 2 sundaes each being equal to the size of a cereal dish.
