Mitchell Field H.4

August 25, 1944

Dear Folks,

Well I am on my way to Mitchell field. The orderly room informed me at 8 o’clock a.m. that I was going to ship. I was ready at 10 and now I’m on my way. I will try to get home one evening, either Monday or Tuesday. I don’t know which it will be. I will give you a ring if I can make it.

I am now in the ladies room for it is the best place to write a letter. No, there are no women on this train. Thank God.

I received a letter from Bob the other day. He told me all about Gladis and says he was going to drop her anyways but she beat him to it. He says things are just right between him and Mary. He has someone to think about anyways.

I have about ten letters here to answer therefore I will cut this short and get to work on them. Will see you soon.
