Dear Al,

Received your letter quite a while ago, and didn’t find any time to answer it.

Yes, I bet you would like to be home for a while. They have the Christmas lights up already but they aren’t going to be lighted up until Dec. 1st. It will be swell to see Bethlehem all lit up again. The Allentown, Bethlehem football game is going to be played on Thursday. And boy is it hard to buy tickets. I got one, but it’s for the 10 yd. line. I hope Bethlehem wins this year. They seem to have a pretty good team.

I’m sorry you were told you weren’t coming home. But I don’t give up hope so easy. I’ll probably be seeing you before long. At least, I hope so. My old flame (Bill Buck) is home, I think he’s discharged. I’m not sure though. I can’t see where he got the points. No, Reds is still in India. I don’t know whether or not he will be out soon.

Yes, it is pretty cool back here. In fact it’s pretty chilly sometimes (hint).

You said at the end of your letter that I shouldn’t raise too much care on Halloween. Well, you needn’t worry about that. We didn’t have a chance. Everyplace we thought we were going to have fun we would find some cops there. They really were pretty strict here. We had a nice Halloween parade though. A couple of hands in it and then at the end a gang of kids all dressed up.

My brother is in Manila. He is waiting to be shipped home. I hope he gets home soon.

I kept putting off to go out and take my drivers test and now it’s too late. I’ll have to get another permit. I don’t care. I was scared anyhow. I think I need a little more practice yet.

I think I’ll go to church tonight (for a change.) and come home and go to bed. I need a little sleep. I’ve been out last week almost every night. I lead a rugged life. All I need is you.

There has been a lot of boys that have come home. Trouble is, I don’t know any of them. Arthur Jones comes home pretty often now. He is as crazy as ever. Joe Mairielo (probably spelled wrong) is in the army. He is now on his was overseas.

I was in the new place (The Colanade) the other night. Boy are they expensive in there. You just can’t go in there with 2 dollars. You have to pretty much to go in there and have a lot of fun. Anyway, it’s too classy for me.

I guess I’ve told you about all I know. I had to laugh when I read your letter. Especially about the guy that took one of the native’s boats and got caught and had to peel spuds. Oh well, it was probably worth it.

I’ll have to close now if I want to go to church. I wish you all the luck in getting home, Al. It will be swell seeing you again

                                                            Love,

                                                            Marian
