Dear Mom, Dad, and Marie,

Well today mail came again today, (that’s a lot of “todays”), and I missed out entirely. But mail has been very bad lately anyhow.

Tonight, as last night, I went to Mass and each time I received Holy Communion. This place reminds me of the earlier days in New Guinea, when we went to church under the coconut palms. It is a most fitting location for services.

Last night I wrote to Margaret and the night before, I wrote to Butler. But there isn’t much to tell. The newspaper will give you the story as to how the war progresses. Today, over the radio, I heard the news that Rome had been entered by the Allies. Great news!

I keep asking folks to send me a book or two, but so far nothing has appeared. So if you can find a copy of Guadalcanal Diary, please send it to me as I hear it is very good. Also if you can obtain some film, 620, I could use it very nicely. And if it’s not asking too much I wish you would send me a good pocket knife, something I could use to carve a few objects de’Art. It helps pass time to make little gadgets now and then when not working or writing.

Now I will close before I think of something else to ask for and will enclose four more pictures, with the negatives. Hope you like them.

                                                Always Love
