“Somewhere in Australia”

Dear Mom, Dad & Marie,

Here I am again trying to keep up with you but not having much luck. Your letters come at almost every mail-call and sometimes I just get behind.

But in the future I am going to use air-mail as much as possible then maybe I can give you a race.

From your letters I see that winter was no joke this year. I would like to see a little snow, but I guess I would freeze if I came back home in the winter.

Today I bought $400.00 in bonds so in the not so distant future you can expect them. I had them sent the same way as the others. I was glad to know that the other bonds arrived.

I had a long and most welcome letter from Frank in which he included pictures of himself, Alma & little Johnny. Your pictures also arrived and I was really excited for a while. I have them all in my album and they are really fine.

In one of your letters, (I have 5 or 6 of them before me now), your said that a cable would be nice and then in a later one you said that you had received the cable I sent. I was glad it arrived but once again let me tell you not to worry when you haven’t heard from me for a while as it is sometimes hard to write and the mails are sometimes held up a bit.

Frank tells me that you have had some prize roses in the flower show. You didn’t tell me about them but I will send congratulations never-the-less.

I guess I will have to hire an assistant to help me answer all the letters I have been receiving. Today I had a letter from Mr. Roy McDaniel who is the General Secretary-Treasurer of the Lodge. It was a ballot as that I could vote for the Delegates-at-large and Alternates, in the 17th Regular Convention. Unfortunately in arrived too late but I shall drop him a few lines just the same.

By the way Florence wrote and also enclosed pictures. Her little Richard is a fine looking young fellow and their home in Chesterfield Co. is a beautiful place. Of course I guess you have at least seen pictures of it.

Joe E. Brown was at out camp and put on a swell show for the fellows. He is very sincere in his efforts to entertain the fellows. Soon we expect to see some of the other stars. And lately a U.S.O. show with all American actors gave us a swell evening.

That just about brings me up to date with the news so now I will close. Write again soon and I will try to drop Marie a letter soon.

                                                            My lover to you all,

                                                            Aubrey

P.S. If you need any money be sure and let me know. O.K.?
