No. 196

Dear Billy:

Hiya, Honey Lamb.

There’s not much new or exciting around these parts, other than that the newspaper strike has ended and that the mayor has lost his job of reading the funnies over the air.

I got the pictures which I took with Heltie’s camera last night, and they came out pretty good. I have several good pictures of the garden and a very nice one of mother and dad together, which I shall send to you. The ones of me are awful and not worth sending to you. However, I shall take some more at the first opportunity and see if I can’t get one that isn’t too bad.

By the way, have you sent your pictures home as yet? We sure are anxious to see them.

As I told you in a previous letter, I’m going up to Denville, New Jersey, tomorrow unless it rains. Incidentally, we’ve had rain since Sunday so it ought to be pretty near rained out by tomorrow.

I’m getting another package together to send to you and I should have it ready by the early part of next week.

Incidentally, it was announced over the radio the other day that any of the boys on Okinawa having 106 points or more, would be sent home so since Raymond has 106 points it looks pretty good for him. I sure hope so. He has seen enough war and certainly deserves to come home.

Have you received any more of my packages? I can’t understand why you aren’t receiving them.

Have you been receiving Reader’s Digest and Esquire? I advised them of your change in address. I’m wondering if we ought to renew your subscription to esquire when it expires. You haven’t received more than half of the issues, have you?

Make with the pen, Honey Lamb. Do you realize that you only wrote me two letters during June, one on the 8th and the other on the 28th, and that I haven’t had any mail since. Tsk! Tsk! Shame on you! Bye for now, Honey Lamb. Let me know if you want anything special.
