Dear Billy,                                                                                                                   June 10th, 1945

Yesterday Dad and I had an anniversary.  38 years married, and Helen gave me ten dollars from the three of you, towards the purchase of a new dress, which I will buy as soon as I get a chance to get to the big store. I wish to thank you very much for your share in the present.

I shall go to Wally Franks tomorrow to try for some tobacco, and want to get a package off to you next week.  I have been unable to get tobacco lately, and Helen mentioned it to a wholesale tobacco man in her building that she could not get tobacco and he gave her a ½ pound for nothing which she has sent to you.  Johnny Sauerwald that was a German prisoner is home he has a sixty day furlough and well I don’t know what next.

I suppose Helen told you all about Harrie as you and her write to each other so often so I will not go into it about Harrie, it would not be news to you.

                                                            Love,

                                                                   Mommy
