Dear Billy,

Hiya, honey chile! I hope you had a nice Easter.

I went up to St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Good Friday night for the three hours agony.  Of course, the church was jammed. I went up with another girl and we got so tired standing that we came out before it was all over. When we got outside, we discovered that there were loud speakers attached to trees on either side of the cathedral and everything could be heard outside, so we sat on the steps and listened. It was really very impressive, Billy, to see hundreds of people standing in the street listening to the services. I don’t think they ever had the loud speakers outside before, but it’s a good thing they did it because it gave a lot of people who couldn’t get into church, an opportunity to hear. MGB Fulton J. Sheen preached and, of course, he is excellent.

On Saturday afternoon mother and I went to see “Oklahoma” and we enjoyed it very much. Then we walked over to Fifth Avenue, and up to 52nd street, and had dinner at Barbour’s on 52nd street. Then it started to rain so we came on home.

We went to 9 O’clock mass at the cathedral yesterday morning and then parked on 52nd street to watch the Easter parade. It certainly was some parade, Billy, and the hats were the funniest I’ve ever seen. I think a lot of the gals just bought the hats to wear on Easter Sunday. I’m sure they wouldn’t have the nerve to wear them afterward.

By the way, I may not have been the grandest lady in the Eastern parade but I certainly was the sweetest-smelling lady in the Easter parade. I used some of my “Christmas Night” perfume for the first time yesterday and I love it. I don’t know which of the perfumes you have sent me I like the best. I guess I like them all the best.

I bought mother two pairs of gloves from you for Easter—one a white pair and the other a chamois colored pair. They are cotton summer gloves and cost $1.50 a pair. I now have a balance of $10.75 left out of the $20.00 you sent me.

Mother was very much pleased with the gloves and she wrote you yesterday and acknowledged them.

Mother and I are going to the circus on Wednesday night. I was given two tickets for it so since we don’t have a ticket for dad, he is going to the music hall   (Cont’d)
