Dear Mom,

[I] got your letter today.  [I am] glad to hear that everything is as usual.

Do you see Grant and Fay very often?  Are they still living down at Salmis?

I got a package from them today.  It came through undamaged [all right].

[I] also got a letter from Polly too.  [I am] glad to hear that Snook got a buck.  He never fails anyway.  I won’t forget the last year of my deer hunting.

[It] must be getting pretty cool around home now.  Over here it is not snowy, but mud is knee deep to a camel.

I think, when this war is over, I will pick somewhere to live where there is not quite so much snow as Vt.

Write soon.

Love,

John
