Hello Dot

Well now I am in Louisiana. We are camped out in the woods. About the same as Miss. Can’t see much difference in the climate. More wind here and I don’t mean from they army beans. HAHA Haven’t been much of any place as yet so can’t tell you much about it yet. We are near camp Polk and I don’t mean the polk in penn. HAHA Still we have a lot that should be there. HA

Can’t seem to get used to the ground the first night. HAHA It was the same with the bed after that three weeks in Miso.

We got a big Texan in our outfit. He just chased a little pig all over the camp. Well Tex finally got the pig. He is 6-2 you should have seen that. HAHA He sure had a lot of advice from the boys. HAHA Roast pig tonight if he can get the dam old mother pig to let him out of the tree. HAHA Never a dull moment in the army. Don’t no who is hollering the loudest Tex or the pig. HAHA

I got the package thanks a million. But the hanger was a joke. We won’t need them any more. HAHA Tell Sis to keep up the good work. That is what we need now lots of laughs. You folks just don’t understand Sis and I. We just don’t fit in your orderly life. HAHA You can see who the leader in her squad is. HAHA Heck if you don’t do some thing like falling under the coffin how the heck will they no that you was there. HAHA Heck sis and I said got to no that some body noticed us. Tell Sis that I said never mind Uncle Jim understands what she was up against. HAHA

Too bad about Gordens cousin he has sure got tough luck. Or is it good luck I think the latter would be more like it. Where he went doesn’t sound so good. Hell jump on a train it is not so bad. Or go by bus. I no that camp saw some of the boys when I was in Sharon. It is a new camp lot of mud. Tell him not to feel to bad you make a lot of friends in the army. He probably will move to where they are anyway. Tell Gorden I got some good feed on the way up to this camp. The train stopped for a little while in a town. We took off and had a few. HAHA Six per here in Louisiana. Seems good to get a good beer for a change. Too dam bad we couldn’t have stopped a little longer would have been carried back. HAHA

Feel sorry for the little kid sure has had his share of trouble. Hope he comes out of it OK. To hell with the money it’s the kid that counts. Hell that won’t be so bad this time as the last I hope. They got most of it fixed the first time. Tell ma that the army doesn’t even get butter. We are short on a lot of things even in here. We start on the big push at the end of the week so if you don’t hear from me write anyway.

Lots of swamps to cross here so good thing I got the kk before I sashaying out in to one. HAHA Tell everybody I said hello. If you want to send me any thing make it cigs. We won’t get to town any more for a long time I guess. But that is the army problem. No smoke no fight. HAHA Don’t no how tough this next two months will be hope for the best.

Hope nobody dies or gets sick till after maneuvers. The order just came through no emergency furloughs till after maneuvers. A boy's mother is dying in another company. He can’t go home. This outfit is getting as bad as a German outfit. What the hell is this army coming to a bunch of dictators? Some dam soldier that man will make after this. He will hate the dam outfit and everything it stands for. Well it ain’t my worry so why should I craw. But know what the hell I would do if I was him. Well honey write often I love you all.

Jim

This order has been changed so now he can go home. Didn’t get a chance to mail this till to dox.
