Sunday January 14th

Dear Mom –

Yesterday we got a bunch of mail that’s been chasing us around and it was good to hear from you and all the other folks.  I had letters from Edna, Marian Pittman, Bobbie, Ethel Srimes (girl from the SSB) Ann (in S.C.), Alma Charlotte, Kay (in Peoria), Marjorie Pearee (in England), and St John (somewhere in the Pacific) and two letters from you.  You mentioned that one of my letters was addressed to you – I guess it was my mistake not the censor’s – I write to you more often then anyone else and sometimes I guess the old home address comes out automatically – Glad you sent it to her – I made it a fast rule that when I started to write letters I’d always write you first –

Things here are about the same it’s been quite cold but we aren’t exposed to the elements – we’re lucky that way –

Did you get the pictures I sent you?  I sent a bunch of them – Scenes of Paris and others – Please let me know – I have some more to send and will get them off soon –

I heard from Bee Bee and Aunt Kate a few days ago – They wrote notes with their X-mas cards – I’m going to try to write them soon –

I’m glad you liked the girl I picked out I too think she’s darling –

We had a nice church service today and I’m taking it easy this afternoon trying to answer all those letters I got yesterday – they mean a lot and I want to keep them coming –

I saw a notice in the Stars and Stripes that they are now offering commissions to men holding degrees in Psychology – I thought they’d get around to it after a while.  I’ve asked for more information about it.

I thought I’d lost my little radio when we made a rather hurried move not long ago.  It turned up in the X-ray equipment however.  It needs a tube now – I’m going to try to get one from the Signal Corps –

Tell Sinnie to write sometime.  Incidentally did she ever locate Jack Williams?  Another favor – a friend of mine has a friend in Richmond he would like to locate.  His name is James Harry Bocock.  Will you look up the name in the telephone book and send his address -?  Thanks –

Today is bright and sunny and it’s beautiful reflecting on the snow – Makes a fellow feel a bit homesick – but we’re all hoping it won’t be too long now –

We are authorized to wear two battle compagne stars on our ETO rifles one for Normandy and one for Northern France – perhaps we’ll have others before long.

Write soon – Lots of Love,

Jack
