April 25, 1944

Dear Mom-

I have received both of your letters in which you mentioned the allotment. It was a surprise to me that there was some question as to whether it would go thru. I have not received the duplicate of the form which you said they are sending. I can’t understand it. It is recorded in my pay book and I thought it was all set- as soon as I get the copy I’ll see about it. If there is some reason for it not being made I’ll make a straight allotment from my pay, as much as I can spare, as for my insurance, let it go until we get this thing straightened out. I made an arrangement to have the premium taken out of the face value and dividend so it will still be in force.

Another matter- I wrote to the collector of Interval Revenue about my income tax as I thought I was due a refund. I am due a little over $20- you are my power of attorney and will be able to handle this o.k. I’m sending the letter I received from them yesterday and my receipts. If you’ll take them to the C of I.R. office they will help you fib a 1943 return- don’t delay in doing this as it should have been done before March 15. I wrote to inquire in February so it will be ok. Keep the money for yourself0 for anything you need.

I’ve heard from Anne several times- from Byrd Chapel Church and from a girl in South Carolina and one in Paris
