Dear Mother-

Please send me as soon as you possibly can the things I left with you       1 pr black shoes, 1 pr white shoes, 5 white shirts, 1 pr gym shoes.  I cannot replace these articles at my present station and I need them for use. I understand that you are able to send only five pounds at a time but that shipments may be spaced out over a period of time until all have been sent.

As regards changing your present employment I would by all means advocate it.  Jackson wrote that he had submitted an allotment for you and after this and what I am sending start coming through you will have plenty of security to give you independence of choice, so you won’t have to feel that you have to keep on in your present capacity to make ends meet, so –as I said- soon as the money from us begins coming through start looking around for a better job for yourself.  For a person of your ability in this day of many jobs $85 a month is ridiculous.  Thanks a lot for Vogt’s and Hal’s addresses.  I’ll see if I can find time to contact them.  I believe Vogt’s outfit is quite close to where I am at the present- I’d sure like to see him.  Be sure to keep on writing as you have for sooner or later it all catches up with me and I sure enjoy getting the word from home.  If I have said very little it is for purposes of security- I’ll have many tales to tell you when I see you all again.  Some of my adventures really sound like something out of a story-book of adventure.  I have difficulty in believing myself many of the things we’ve done and experiences we’ve seen.  I’ll cut this short here and get it mailed as I know you must be anxious to hear.

Gene
