Friday Afternoon

Dear Mom––

Your letter came this morning––I wrote you a short note last night––I haven’t had much time to write lately as we have been terribly busy––I’m in a class now––we have had a quiz and I’ll take the few minutes I have left to drop a line.

Our training is quite interesting now–– we’re getting into subjects that are quite technical and we have several new officers (medical men) who really seem to know their stuff––we’re functioning more on a platoon basis than as a complete unit––This gives a more “family feeling” to our work––We’re in competition with the other platoons although we’re all in the same unit––I had to give a talk the other day on transfusions, infusions, and Hypodermoclysis––It wasn’t too hard to do–– I feel that I am progressing somewhat and that my work is of some value.

Since that last line a day has elapsed–– So you can see how much time I have––at the end of the exam yesterday the Captain took my paper and showed it to the other officers–– and told them that it was perfect––One of the nurses told me so––my name is getting to be well known around here––

We’re preparing for inspection now so I’ll have to stop––

            Write soon––

                                                                                    Adios for now

                                                                                                Love

                                                                                                     Jack–
