Dear Mom –

I have a few moments to dash off this letter – we’re having examinations this morning on our practical work – I’ve finished mine – thus the excess time –

I’ve received your letters and wish I could have had time to answer each of them. Eva Wagner sent me a swell box of cookies – all the fellows and myself enjoyed them immensely. I wrote her at 2929 Seminary Ave – Is that the right address - ? Also had letters from Aunt Hettie – Aunt Kate – Mrs. S and Bobby & Betty Barsley

About Anne – I’ve told her many times not to put all her hopes in me – but she still thinks a lot of me – No - I’m no heart breaker – I’ve seen what that can do –

In reference to the present – there are a few things I’d like to have – I’ve been thinking of buying them myself. Most of them are in the clothes line and perhaps it would be letter if you sent the money for it instead so I could pick the size, style – and stuff that is authorized – (so many things you see in stores are not authorized) If you do send money send it b y registered mail – checks and M.O.’s are hard to cash – the articles I have listed are follows: -

1) Garrison Hat – (the kind I have on in the picture – I borrowed that one) these are pretty expensive - $ 6.00) I’d have to buy this

2) Garrison Belt – (the kind you see soldiers wearing over their O.D. coats – as per diagram [diagram of person wearing belt] I’d have to buy this

3) Socks – white wool – cotton khaki 11½ - you could get these

4) A waist band for carrying toilet articles – Looks like this [picture of waist band with pockets] you can carry razor – brush – comb – toothpaste etc in it and roll it up when not in use – (you could get this)

5) Rubber stamp with name and serial number – (no pvt. on this as I may someday get an advancement.) Indelible ink comes in this out fit and it is used for marking clothes etc. (you could get this)

6) Khaki wool sleeveless sweater (you could get this)

7) We waist belt with brass buckle (I’d have to get this)

8) Handkerchiefs (you but these)

9) Civilian shoes (I can get authorization for ration ticket)

10) Wool scarf (khaki of course) (you buy this)

11) Dress gloves – (I’d have to get these)

That’s about all I can think of – These are just suggestions you understand – you might pass this on to Pappy – I’ll have to close now – Will write again soon
