Dear Mom + Dad,

Here it is another Sunday and we are back at the Main Base. We packed our packs Saturday night and hiked back here.  That time at the rifle range sure did pass fast.  I don’t think I told you but I was in the hospital for about a week up at the range.  They said I had “cat fever” but it wasn’t anything but the flue.  I feel fine now

That’s right what you said about no knowing one day from another.  In fact I didn’t realize that today would be Sunday till late last night.

I had a letter from Preston and answered it but haven’t heard from him since.  He is probably too busy.  I have had quite a few letters and kept up with the news.  I received a letter from Eugene, a couple from Sis, one from Dot, one from Midge, one from Pickle, one from Mallie Sauch, one from Aunt Maude. That’s about all I got this week.  Now I’ll spend all day answering them. Well I guess I had Better Stop now and start writing someone else

                                                                                    With love

                                                                                    Your Son

                                                                                    Joe.
