Dear Mother & Dad,

I started to write Mary Alice but decided to write you instead. This place sure does have funny weather. One day it is so cold you freeze when you get up and by the middle of the day it is good and warm. The next it will rain all day without stopping,g but we go on just the same. Tell dad I see why he never gets sick. After going through army life, civilian life would be a cinch to keep well in. Lots of times we run around all day wet from the knees down, and no one ever gets sick. See our raincoats just go down to our knees.

I got a letter from you today and also one from Dottie A. I guess Julia will have to be hunting for a new boyfriend. I can’t wait to hear from Julia and find out what happened. I know she will tell me because when I was going to school she would tell me things she never told anyone else. I haven’t seen anything that looks like a U.S.O. center. I think they are mostly these things you read about but don’t see. Maybe they do have them in N.Y.

I sure would like to see the trailer now. Maybe if you haven’t finished taking that roll of films you could take a picture of it and send to me.

That was tough about Sula losing that horse. Tell her I know why they don’t have any meat or coffee. I have it all down here. They have real good coffee and on cold day I drink a couple cups and it warms me up.

            Well I’ll stop now.

With love

Your son

Joe

P.S. I went to the show last night. They have a free show each night. Hail the Gang is All Here was on. It was on down there the Monday after I left.
