Dearest Gay,

The party is all over. Am I ever glad. It turned out real nice, I thought. Gloria really got some nice things. I don’t believe I ever told you what I bought her, did I? It was an ivory-colored water pitcher to go with her set of fiesta dishes. She seemed to like it real well. Mom gave her a silch(?) coffee maker. She also got another silch(?) coffee maker, but it isn’t quite as good a one as mom gave her. She really got a lot of nice things. Some of the ladies played pinochle, and the others played bunco. Your mom got the first prize at bunco. I was sure glad she did. It was a handkerchief. For refreshments, we had angel food cake with pink frosting, vanilla ice cream, and coffee. I’m really glad it is over. I was sick all night and have been all day. I feel a little better now. I stayed in bed until 10 this morning and laid down again from one until four, so I feel better. I think I was just worn out. Evelyn Baker wanted me to take care of her baby today while she went to a funeral, but I had to call and tell her that I just couldn’t. Oh yes, we heard from Kenny yesterday. He is in Boise, Idaho. He wants Gloria to come out there, and I guess she is going. He has a class 17 pass and gets into town every night. His training will be completed around the end of July. He doesn’t think he’ll get another furlough. Gloria is planning to leave in a couple of weeks and wants mom to go with her. Mom doesn’t know what to do, and I don’t know what to tell her to do. So long for now.

Lots of Love from your Doe.
