Dearest Jane:

Received your letter Friday and was sure glad to hear from you honey. Glad you finally heard from Cline and I know it made you feel lots better. Well my dear I was about ready to leave the hospital the other day when two more carbuncles showed up, but they came on up quickly and the major has already lanced them and if there’s no more I’m nearly OK again. Just four or five more days-I hope. Getting awful weary of the darn things now. Well I really don’t have a lot of news just my usual rambling, but it all means I’m thinking of you all the time and that I really love you, no foolin’.

I got a letter from Dorothy Friday also and she said Gene was getting in lots of hours lately and that apartments are awfully hard to find. Seemingly they are at grandmas from the way I understand it. Their baby is really cute, seems like he is a little slow in walking but I guess lots of youngsters are after all. He is a chunky little guy, always has been. Honey I hope Cynthia is coming along swell but I’m quite sure under your guidance that she is.

No I’m not trying to kid you on that sewing deal because most anything you attempt you do quite nicely if I remember right and I’m sure I do. I’ll let you keep her dressed like a little doll. I’ll sure be glad when I can see you and the baby honey. Maybe it won’t be to long though before I can.

It will be so swell when this hateful old war is over and all can be together with their loved ones again. And you can bet your sweet life it will be a better old world for Cynthia and Bobby, Sharon and Gene Jr. and all the dears that we will want to have a swell place to grow up in. When you write to Cline again honey tell him I said hello and wish him lots of luck. Does he know that I’m in the Med. Division of the Air Corp and by the time I leave the hospital I’ll probably be an overseas trainee in the Second Air Force, that’s what I look for. If I am, at least I should get a 10 day furlough-I hope-but gosh all I can do is wonder and hope. Time will tell what. I’m ready for some different scenery and a little excitement pretty soon now-whatever it is and wherever it is, by gosh. Yes, that little saying I told you about soldiers goes apply to soldiers’ wives too I guess but it won’t be so long until its different, you wait and see kid.

Just keep busy and keep smiling and keep writing letters, and take good care of that sweet little daughter and the time won’t seem so long really. Kiss her one extra for me will you? Listen don’t ask me if I like fudge because you already know the answer but honey don’t bother because I expect you’re busy enough, really. Its sweet of you to offer though. Well, talk about reading, it seems like I’ve read about a billion books since I’ve been in the hospital, but seriously I’ve really read lots of ‘em. Also played lots of cards and kept up pretty well on my letter writing too. But surely am anxious to go back to training. I don’t care for laying around very much, never have.

Well dear I must be close for now but will write you again soon, for sure. I’ll keep you posted when I change parts of the country etc. Bye bye for now. Be sweet and careful and keep your chin up and that smile beaming. Write me every time you got a few minutes to spare. Tell Mr. and Mrs. I said hello. Lots of Love.
