Dear Mary and all:

Many thanks for your V-letter of the seventh that I received today. Letters from home are something that are always looked forward to over here as it gets very lonely here at times. I still have my cold but it doesn’t bother me so much now. Having a lot of mud and rain now and that isn’t doing it any good. Hope this finds all at your house well and ok. Very sorry to hear that Aunt Maggie has been ill but hope she is alright now. She is getting up in years isn’t she? Haven’t seen a movie in months but don’t worry about that. Another big drive has started so maybe this will end it up. I hope so anyway. I guess we will be on the move a lot from now on but as long as it gets me close [to] home I wouldn’t mind. [I] must close for now.

Love to all

Roland.
