Dear Mary and all:

Received two V-letters from you last week and glad to hear from you always.  I’m still here in France and getting along fine.  Hasn’t rained for a few days so life hasn’t been too bad.  I haven’t as yet received any of the packages you sent but hope they get here soon as I sure could use some of that chicken.  Have two chickens that comes around to my tent every day.  In fact they almost live here.  I had planned of swiping them and eating them but they keep the bugs and ants away and are such nice pets I’m afraid I wouldn’t enjoy eating them now.  They are real tame and eat out of my hand.  Will close for now hoping to hear from you again real soon.           Love to all
