Dear Mom:

Yesterday I received your letter of August 30^th with the Victory Cross enclosed. The cross is very beautiful and I shall make good use of it. As it is now I use the Rosary that you gave me back in the States. Each night I hold it in my hands and as I count off the beads I pray the God in all His mercy and justice will soon bring to an early close this miserable war. God alone knows what horrors exist to victor and vanquished alike.

Today your letter of September 13^th was handed to me. Evidently Air Mail is much faster than regular mail. I received your cable gram about a week ago and I want to let you know I really enjoyed it.

Thank Sister for the Cross. The first Rosary I shall say on it I shall offer for her.

Give my love to all at home. I shall write again soon.
