Dear Mom:

This is the first time in two days that I have had a few moments to spare. Somehow or another the Major down here keeps us busy from one end of the day to another. Being out in the field in the open air makes one awful tired and he has to go to bed early so he will be in condition for the next day.

As you can see I received the stationary that you sent. I imagine I have Lillian to thank too.

I am writing this in a hurry because we were out on the Range today & we are awfully tired out. Perhaps latter in the week I will be able to write again & then it will not be such a short letter.

            Pray for me, Mom.

            God bless you,

            Joe
