Dear Dot and Dana

I received another letter from Betty yesterday and two from you. Gee, that was an awful big explosion in Calif[ornia] wasn’t it. I’m awful glad I wasn’t there.

I went to town yesterday for the first time and visited a few swell places. Wish I could tell you about it.

[Cut by censorship]

I looked the town all over for something for you and Dana but I couldn’t find a damned thing. It isn’t like cities in the States. All there is here is jewelry shops places to take pictures and barber shops. I had the money and did want to get something so bad but I just couldn’t find anything. I did buy another pillow case which you won’t want as you already have two. And I bought a sweater for Dana which I know is big enough for you and I doubt if I can send it home as it has the name of the town I’m in.

I had some small pictures taken ad they are terrible.

I will have some nice ones taken some other time. Well dear, they are keeping me pretty busy now, hope it isn’t like this all the time. Will have to close now as it is chow time.
